AUGIE Group Plans to Grow its Community by 20% in 2020

New Programs Focused on Agency Automation, MGAs, and Agri-Business Will Drive Momentum

NEW YORK (20 November 2019): The time is now for independent agents to leverage technology to improve their businesses—no agency can be left behind. That is why AUGIE Group, an insurance tech exchange open to all involved in the insurance distribution channel, has set its goal for 2020: grow its community by 20 percent.

With more than 4,000 current members, AUGIE Group is the only industry forum where agents, brokers, carriers, MGA/Wholesalers, solutions providers, and association representatives can come together beyond their affiliations to discuss the technology and opportunities in the insurance distribution channel. As a grassroots-driven organization, AUGIE Group develops ways to take advantage of new approaches and overcome barriers to more automation among carriers and agents.

To grow the community, AUGIE Group will focus on attracting new members from among previously underrepresented groups such as managing general agents (MGAs) and carriers and agents in agri-business lines, as well as motivating more agents and carriers to automate using proven solutions, such as claims download.

“AUGIE Group is about bringing everyone in the industry together, giving all a voice, and to help solve the most pressing issues in the industry,” said Cal Durland, Director of AUGIE Group. “We don’t want anyone left out of the discussion on digital transformation. AUGIE Group’s role is to be an insurance tech exchange, connecting the dots among members and bring existing communities together, helping everyone better serve insurance customers.”

New AUGIE Leadership

AUGIE Group recently announced that Mike Skeele, President, Skeele Insurance Agency, will become Chair of the group in 2020. He succeeds Jim Armitage who will continue as Past Chair and serve on AUGIE Group’s Executive Council. Ted Joyce, VP of Insurance Agency Services, will become Vice Chair.

“This past year has been very important for us. We rebranded the organization as AUGIE Group and built significant momentum around six key programs. We recently relaunched our Ambassador program and introduced monthly Town Halls which help to engage the community on a regular basis. We have all the right elements in place to tackle the top challenges for agents,” according to Skeele. “I look forward to leading AUGIE Group in 2020 and growing our grass roots community to reach all who are impacted by these issues.”

Joyce added, “One of the most important aspects of AUGIE Group is its ability to bring members together to share ideas and influence change. I am honored to be Vice Chair and am looking forward to partnering with Mike to grow the organization.”
